Navigation Clinics!

We have scheduled two navigation clinics to be held at REI in Missoula!REI - Missoula

The first will take place on February 18, 2010 at 7pm.  This clinic will focus on using a UTM grid reader to plot coordinates, topographic map reading, and implementing dead reckoning skills.

The second clinic is scheduled for March 18, 2010 at 7pm and will cover magnetic declination, reading a compass, and using a compass in collaboration with a map.

The clinics will be lead by GMAR Race Directors: Joshua Phillips (land surveyor) and Kyle Balke (GIS/Cartographic Specialist).  There will be opportunity for Q and A about the race at the end of each clinic.  We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

Thanks to Ryan Newhouse, Outreach Specialist at REI – Missoula, for allowing us this great opportunity and venue!

These clinics are free and open to the public.  You do not have to be registered for the race in order to attend.

Notes from Clinic #1 – the outline that the clinic followed for you to download and review.  Also, the PowerPoint slide show that we used.  I hope this helps.
